My new years resalution is to be a great student and pass all of my classes through this whole school year. I also want to start coming into school early,, so that i may pass all my classes.

Using part of your other 8 hours on social networking websites such as Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter can build your human capital, but social networking has a dark side that can stifle creativity and foster narrow-mindedness if you’re not careful.

Once upon a time if you had different opinions, interests, or views from the norm, you were considered odd or maybe even weird. Then the Internet came along and changed all that. No matter how different you are, and no matter how strange your beliefs, you can find a million others just like you.

On the surface, there’s nothing wrong with this. No matter what you think or what you like, there’s an online community just a few clicks away where everybody knows your name. The internet is now one big high school cafeteria. Jocks over here, nerds over there, brainiacs back there, stoners over . . . uh, stoners?

Do you remember how good it felt to “fit in” to feel connected to a shared belief, purpose, or enemy (or how alienating and lonely it felt to not fit in)? But do you also remember the prejudice and the close-mindedness of belonging to a clique? The term for this is groupthink.

Groupthink is when individual creativity, uniqueness, differences, and independent thinking is secondary to the group’s cohesiveness and mission. The stronger and tighter the group, the easier it is for groupthink to rear its ugly head. In other words, groupthink is what happens when its members check their individuality and ideas at the door and succumb to the will of the group. At the extreme, groupthink is what is required for cults to form and function. See my related post, “How to Use Herd Behavior to Get Others to Follow.”

One of the main contributors to groupthink according to Dr. Clark McCauley is “isolation of the group from outside sources of information and analysis.” So how are groupthink and social media related? If I looked at your website bookmarks, reviewed your browser’s history, and analyzed your RSS feeds, what would I find? I’d probably find an eclectic mix of information (e.g., sports, politics, self-help), but would I find varying perspectives within a similar interest?

All learning doesn’t increase your human capital. If you limit your focus to a narrow band of information while sheltering yourself from other ideas and perspectives, you are preventing growth. For example, I’m into learning how to maximize my productivity and increasing my efficiency. For a time, I followed a very narrow technology-based view of how to do this. I read all of the “life hacks” blogs such as Lifehacker and Stepcase Lifehack and became obsessed with downloading the latest gadgets and implementing the latest tips and tricks. I listened to tech-focused productivity podcasts and audio books. I learned a great deal (and still do) from these websites and programs, but my mistake was not that I went deep into a topic (i.e., how to use technology to get more done), but that I stopped searching for learning new strategies outside of my narrow focus. Even though I was trying to build my human capital, I was actually decreasing it by having tunnel vision.

How to Avoid Social Networking Groupthink

Will you expand your mind and increase your creativity more by talking to people just like you or with people who are different? If you’re always nodding your head in agreement, you’re not exposing yourself to unique or contradictory ideas. Here are a few ways to maximize creativity and limit groupthink:

• Join groups and communities that are completely different/opposite from what you believe. You don’t have to agree, but try to at least understand their perspective and why they believe what they believe. If the O’Reilly Factor is your homepage, consider perusing the Huffington Post for a different view on the same topics.
• Become Facebook friends with people who think differently and who will surprise you and cause you to question your ideas.
• Read blogs and websites that don’t recycle ideas.
• Get into disagreements and friendly arguments by posting comments on blogs. Just make sure you do it respectfully. I’ve found using “What if we think of it like this…” to be a non-confrontational approach that can lead to a healthy exchange of ideas.
• The more you are a fan of someone, the more often you need to question their assumptions and ideas. We tend to let our mental guard down around those we trust.

Break away from digital cliques by using social networking to expand and enrich your perspective and to grow your human capital. It’s easy to find a million others who think just like you, but if those are the only people you are searching for and interacting with, you will be limiting your creativity and thinking. Your homework: Seek those different from you and ask yourself, “Is there another way to look at this?

my dream job is?

My birthday

This saturday is my birthday and i am not feeling well. My plans where to have a party but I am not going to have guests that I cant attend to. Also I am not going to be able to have fun at my own party and thats not going to be fair to me. I was going to have to get my hair and nails done and I am not in the mood to be in the salon almost all day. All I am going to want to do is sleep cause I am going to feel weak. So, I am just going to sleep. This is my 17th year in this world and I am grateful to have made it this long in my life.

My reportcard

When i got my report card I was happy. I didn't expect to do so well. I thought i was going to fail every class. But, come to find out i only failed 2 classes. They were consumer math and gym. I was disappointed when i found out that i failed gym because i have usually been playing gym lately. So, i thought that i was going to pass gym but i guess i was wrong; i failed. I was happy with my grades that I've gotten so far, but i hope to get higher grades next term.

HOW CAN YOU GO ABOUT TRYING TO EARN BETTER GRADES?

I can earn better grades by staying in class and trying to do my best to do my work. Also I can work on any subjects that i have trouble in. I have trouble in consumer math so i asked the teacher if he can put it in a way where i can understand it more and he did. Now i understand it a little more then i used to. It is actually kind of interesting. Consumer math has to do with stocks and money. You have to really be focused to do well.

What would happen if you could fly whenever you wanted? When would you use this ability?

If i had the ability to fly whenever i wanted i would choose to fly to any tropical island, so that i could forget about anything and everything and just relax and forget about anything and everyone that ever hurt me. Then i wouldn't have to worrie about anything else. I would just be having the time of my life and thinking about my self

annoying babies crying

Something that really bothers me is babies crying. They are so loud and annoying. It really makes me very mad, Because I don't want to be on the train or anywhere else hearing a babe cry. If i don't hear a babies crying in my house then why would i want to hear a babe crying anywhere else this really gets on my nerves.

I guess I should think twice before I consider having kids..... haha

Forgiveness: The day my mom lost my precious bracelet

One time I lent my mommy a bracelet that my daddy had brought me. He was the best daddy in the whole wide world. He loved me with all his heart. We used to spend a lot of time together. That bracelet meant the world to me. It was the only thing I had left to remember him by. I miss him so much. He was the nicest daddy in the world. I wish that he could still be here with me right now. The day after I lent my mother the bracelet, i asked my mommy for it back. She told me that she had lost it. I was so upset because it was the only thing i had left to remember him bye. You can only imagine how very angry at her i felt. But, in the end, I forgave her for losing my favorite bracelet; and she forgave me for being mad at her.

To this day I miss my bracelet. Yet, I know that my mom didn't mean to lose it. It was an accident and accidents happen all the time. If we can't get passed a small mistake/accident, how are we supposed to move on into our future. If you hold onto anger you only make the situation worse. You end up hurting people that didn't mean to hurt you. It is kind of like that saying, "an eye for an eye, makes the whole world blind." If you don't find it in yourself to forgive others, bad things can happen. Forgiveness is the best policy. If you can't forgive, then you are destined to live with the pain and anger forever. Forgiveness helps you move on into a more promising future.

pregent babysitter gone missing

I read a article from the New York Times. It was about a lady that was missing for two days. A police officer saw a white truck outside the police station. He found a lady inside dead. She was diabetic. She died from a insulin overdose. She was also pregnant. She was a babysitter from Brazil. Later, they came to find out she was having a affair with her boss's husband. The wife had found out about the affair the day before the babysitter went missing. She also learned that the baby she was having was his. So, in the long run i think the wife would be a suspect in this situation. It all sounds very suspicious.

what i do in my free>time?

In my free time i like to go to my boyfriends house and we will just hang out. We would lay down and watch T.V. Mostly we would atch movies. Because movies are more interesting then T.V shows. It is a lot of fun. I love just spending time with him. I also like to dance in my free time. It is a lot of fun. Also sometimes dance is very hard, because some dance moves are hard to learn to do. Also i like singing even though im not very good at it. But its still a lot of fun.

what are your plans for this summer?
This summer i am going to go to summer school. I am going to
participate in all the activities. It is going to be a lot of fun.
I went for a little while last summer and it was fun. I'm also ganna have
a summer job. It is going to be a lot of fun. It will teach me how to be independent.



What are you most proud of?
I am most proud of e making it through my first yeah of high
school. Its was hard at first but i made it.
It was a lot of fun all these years. I learned
a lot of different things such as math,reading,writing,
and science. Another name for science is living envirment.
It is a very interesting thing. I am very happy that i made it
to high school and i hope to make it to college to.

This weekend i was hanging out with my boyfriend all weekend. We had a great time ever. When we spend time alone we have so much fun. We just sit together and watch t.v and talk. It is great that we can talk about what ever we need to with no problems. I also got money from my mom and brought some food from the chinese place. It tasted very good. then we watch t.v for a little while we where watching the music channel. I had the greatest weekend this weekend.

I guess the truth about relationships is that you argue about dumb things because you love the person just an excuse to talk or fight i think love is basically fight and and making up cause that's all you do in a relationship.

today at the dance

today is April 30 we are having a spring fling dance. it is gonna be a lot if fun. the whole school is going it is gonna be a lot kids there to. There is going to be a lot of different types of snacks. also, there are going to be a lot of my friends there. I am going to have a great time. i will hang out with Ms. Ilia. She is my favorite para. She is a very nice lady. I consider her to be like my mommy. There is going to be a lot of different music playing. I can't wait to dance!

confused about what to do

This weekend my sister asked me if i wanted to move with her to Maryland. I onshore of what to do, because i love my sister and i am used to seeing my sisters kids. I love them so much. I've been living with them since i was little. I will miss them with all my heart.

I have a life her in New York i have my mom and the rest of my family. Also i have a boyfriend and i really care about him a lot, and i don't want to leave him. Also i cant leave my mom alone.

my boring weekend watching sunny with a chance

    This weekend i stayed home and slepted in my house. I watched a show called sunny with a chance. It is about a group of teenagrs on a t.v show. They get kicked off the show and they have to go to high school.  But the only school that they know about is the musical one. So they started to sing in the lunch room there high school that they went to.  But it was really a dream. They dreamt that they got kicked off the show. Then my boyfriend came over to my house and watched it with me it was a lot of fun.

A place i would like to vacation at

If there were somewhere i wanted to go it would be to Barbados. It is a very exotic place. The water is clean and it looks beautiful. The water is blue. You can see the fish swimming through the water thats how clean the water is. If i had a chance to go there for vacation i would take it. I would love to go swimming in an exotic place like that. It would be a beautiful experience. I would also have a great time there. I could also meet new people. I could also learn about a new culture. It would be a very interesting experience for me.

the worst vacation ever

I had the worst vacation ever, because i had to go to the hospital. Because everything i ate i throw it up. That's how sick i was. I Barley could move that's how much pain i was in. Then the doctor told me to get some rest so that's what i did and i started feeling a little better. So then i ate some soup because my stomach was to weak to eat anything else. Then i got a lot better and i was able to do thing normally again.

teenage problem suggestions

We can help teenagers to solve there problems by by talking it out. You can ask a teacher or an adult to bring you and the other child in the room with you. Its called a emendation. These are some suggestions that you can use for teenagers to stay out of trouble. I have done his before when i had a problem with a girl from my school they put us in a room and we talked the problem out and it worked. Also you can also use a stress ball to calm you down. also you can go to therapy to talk to someone about your problem. This is a very good suggestion.

going to the chinese with my sister

I had a great time this weekend i went to my sisters house i had fun. She took me out to go to eat at the Chinese restaurant. we ate chicken with garlic sauce and white rice and we also ate chicken wing with pork fried rice. We had a great time at the restaurant. Then i went shopping with my mommy she brought her self jeans and shirts. Then she me to the nail salon to get our nails and eye brows done. we had a great time spend the day together. I love my mom she's the best mommy in the world. Then we went home home.

Fashion Institute of Technology

When i go to collage i want to study fashion. Ever since i was a little girl i wanted to be a fashion designer. It is a very fun profession, because you make a lot of different types of clothes. Also, you get happy when you see someone with something you created. Thats why i want to study fashion and i would like to study fashion FIT. You have to have 3.1 grade piont avarage and you have to write an eassy and show them your talents.

the greatest weekend ever

This weekend i had a great time. I got a new i pod touch. I have a lot of music and pictures. There are all sorts of apps on the iPod touch. It has aim,YouTube,face book,my space,google,yahoo,twitter,Pandora and more. I love my i pod touch; it was a very nice gift. It was from my sister. She is a great sister to me. I love her so much. I had a great weekend also because my boyfriend came over and we watched a movie called a movie called "Paranormal Activity" i had a great weekend. But the worst part of my weekend was that i almost didn't get my iPod touch and i got mad but then my sister brought it and i was very happy and thank full for my iPod touch and i thanks my sister for that and shes the best sister in the whole world because she wasn't obligated to buy me the iPod touch and she brought it anyway and i am very thank full for that.

when i first found out there was no school Friday i was very excited. I got a lot of rest because i was very sleepy when i woke up so i got that advantage to get some rest. then, when i woke up my mom took me out to i hop i ate pancakes and steak. It tasted very good. then we sat down and watched the movie Preshious. I had the greatest day with my mom. Then i went outside with my little brother and we played in the show and i through him in the snow and he made a snow angle. Then i saw him making a snow angle so i made one to. That was the greatest snow day ever.

my perfect vacation

This week off i went to my boyfriends house we had a lot of fun. We watched a movie fired up. It had a lot of perfidy but it was still really funny. Then we went to my block and walked around my block. We had a lot of fun we talk while we were walking around. also then we went to his grandmothers house in castle hill. I had a great vacation. It was the greatest vacation ever. I even brought my mom something for valentines day. It was the greatest holiday ever.

A challenge that I have over come was bung juming. It was a lot of fun because I never though that I could over come my fear of bung jumping. Going bung jumping was very scary because it very high in the air. But then I closed my eyes then it wasn’t as scary as before because then I couldn’t see where I was doing. But when I jumped I had a lot of fun because the wind was blowing in my face so if felt like a body slide. I had the greatest time that day because I never though that I would over come my fear and I did.

No, humans shouldn't go on vacation in space. Because then they would have to wear those suits that you need to get air. I don't think that people would want to wear those suits. Because when people go on vacation they want to relax not have to do all that hassle while they are on vacation. also because when people are on vacation they like to lay in the sun and relax and in space you cant do that. Because you can't receive oxygen the way you do on earth. I think that it would be a nice experience to go to space. But some people don't like wearing those oxygen suits. Also i think that i would never go to space for vacation because thats not a place that i would like to go to. Because i would have more going to a place where its sunny.
